Foster

Looking to love, snuggle, and help open up an animal for a few weeks? We are always looking for foster homes for our furry friends until they are adopted. Fosters usually have an animal from 1-8 weeks depending on age. As of November 23, 2021 we can no longer accept any foster that does not own their home. CLICK HERE to see how you can make a difference.

Retirees

Retirees. Are you looking for a way to fill those extra hours you used to spend at a job o raising children who are now grown and out of the house? Do you wonder what to do with those empty bedrooms and all that closet space? Here’s a suggestion: Become a foster

For Michele’s Rescue. Michele’s has been rescuing, caring for, and helping dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens find loving forever homes since 1997.

Based in Grand Rapids, Michele’s wants and needs people who love animals but may not have the means of owning a pet full time. Michele’s does not have a shelter for the animals brought to the rescue. Instead, they are temporarily housed in private homes where they can live and learn to be with humans and receive love and social skills that will help them to be adopted by a “furever family”. The benefits of this type of arrangement are shared with the foster as they, in turn, are the recipients of the trust and love of the animals they care for.

While fostering, you would be provided with the necessities. For cats it would be food, litter, litter box, toys, etc. Dog fosters are provided with food, leashes, collars, etc. In addition, all medical care for foster animals is provided at Michele’s expense at veterinary facilities used by the rescue.

Some requirements are to be expected, such as being in good health, have reliable transportation, able to travel to vet appointments, etc., a clear criminal history, own your own home or have permission from home/apartment owner to house animals.
